Notes

The 17-page draft EO, published in full by Democracy Docket, claims China interfered in 2020 as the basis for emergency powers over voting. It would require all voters to re-register, restrict mail-in voting, mandate hand-counting, ban ranked-choice voting, require citizenship proof, and nationalize rules typically set by states. Center for American Progress analyzed the EO as having no constitutional basis. Trump said "I've never heard about it." Whether or not this EO is imminent, the draft is a real document that outlines a possible playbook. Flag for monitoring.

Coverage Gap

Not covered by right-wing outlets in the framing of a threat. Largely a left/center story.
